Lateral Hires: In State and Out of State Bookmark and Share
 

LATERAL HIRES 

Lateral Hires with 3 years or more experience will be hired at Deputy First Class Pay $23.13 per hour.

REQUIREMENTS:

Lateral Hire; In-State:

  • Cadet new hire requirements.
  • State certified.
  • Three years law enforcement experience.
  • No more than 90 days separation from last agency.

Lateral Hire; Out-Of-State:

  • Cadet new hire requirements.
  • Eligible for new mexico d.p.s. certificate by waiver course with in 6mos. Of employment. (applicant is responsible for providing documentation from nmdps that proves that the applicant is eligible for certification by waiver)
  • Three years law enforcement experience.
  • No more than 90 days separation from last agency.


There is no way to condense the application process for out of state applicants. You must be able to make several trips to the Albuquerque area in order to complete the process at your own expense.

RETIREMENT OPTIONS :

  • 20 YEAR RETIREMENT AT 70%
  • 22YEARS 10 MONTHS AT 80%
  • RETIREMENT IS PAID OUT BASED ON YOUR HIGHEST 3 YEAR EARNINGS

  • ACADEMIC INCENTIVE PAY $45 PER MONTH TUITION REIMBURSEMENT
  • SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL PAY UP TO .30 CENTS PER HOUR
  • CLOTHING ALLOWANCE; $900 PER YEAR LONGEVITY;
    $125 PER YEAR OF SERVICE, PAID EACH YEAR
  • 80% OF MEDICAL AND DENTAL PAID
  • SPECIALTY AND HAZARDOUS DUTY PAY UP TO $50 PER MONTH
  • PAID SICK LEAVE ACCRUED AT 4 HRS PER PAY PERIOD
    OR 13 DAYS PER YEAR
  • PAID VACATION 0-5 YEARS OF SERVICE; 13 DAYS PER YEAR
  • 5-10 YEARS OF SERVICE; 16.9 DAYS PER YEAR
  • 10-15 YEARS OF SERVICE; 19.5 DAYS PER YEAR
  • 15-20 YEARS OF SERVICE; 22.1 DAYS PER YEAR
  • 13 PAID HOLIDAYS
