OUR POSITION This position perform services and enforce laws under authority of the City of Loveland and State of Colorado necessary for the protection of life, safety, health, welfare and property within the City of Loveland.
The working environment and physical activities include: walking, standing, running, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, crawling, bending, climbing, feeling, talking, seeing at night, hearing and conducting repetitive motions. Extended periods of time with little rest or sleep. Extended periods of time spent sitting in or operating motor vehicle. Exposure to biological and synthetic hazardous materials. Wide range of environmental conditions from sub-zero to humid, high temperatures. Extended periods of time seated in an office environment.
The incumbent in this position will be required to use a motor vehicle, handgun, shoulder arms, choice of intermediate weapons such as pepper spray, collapsible or straight baton, handcuffs, computer, police radio, telephone (cellular and stationary), radar equipment, Intoxilyzer 5000 and flashlight.
OUR CANDIDATE The candidate is required to have Colorado Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T) certification, a provisional certificate, or possess a probationary certificate from an approved academy by hire date. Must be able to legally possess and carry a firearm. Must meet physical ability test standards set forth in Loveland Police Department Directives. Must possess a valid Colorado driver's license. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language as determined by the LPD officer selection process. Demonstrate effective verbal communications skills allowing communication with people who are emotional or distressed, under adverse conditions, and to groups of varying sizes.
